Material changes, without release noise

This page records public launches and corrections that can affect how a reader understands or uses HTTPClarity.

Rebuilt the site around a minimalist technical light theme, with a new request-response logo, clearer reading layouts, and a homepage that pairs learning routes with a concrete HTTP exchange.

Search stays local when JavaScript is disabled or fails to initialize. Glossary and topic results have distinct labels, and article topic links lead directly to existing topic guides. Corrected the status-code lesson's caching guidance and clarified why repeated CORS Lab requests may reuse cached preflight permission.

Corrected conditional 304 Not Modified coverage to include standardized QUERY and clarified POST idempotency and caching requirements. Added trailer-field and informational-response details and corrected the exact max-age freshness boundary. Raw HTTP and redirect diagnostic examples now preserve their intended HTTP/1.1 and GET semantics. The Content-Type reference now reflects the JSON media type registration. Production builds now exclude the internal content-status and component-gallery QA routes.

Published a six-part, primary-source-led history of HTTP covering the CERN origins and HTTP/0.9, HTTP/1.0, HTTP/1.1, HTTP/2, QUIC and HTTP/3, and the protocol-evolution lessons behind newer extensions such asQUERY.

Added a current HTTP developments track covering Structured Fields, Content-Digest fields, HTTP Message Signatures, and optimistic HTTP/1.1 protocol transitions. Updated the compression Lab to document its Cloudflare edge boundary, reject unacceptable content codings, and prevent transformations; JSON examples now follow the registered media type without an obsolete charset parameter.

2026-07-14

Added a complete guide and Reference entry for the standardized HTTP QUERY method. A bounded Lab exercise demonstrates fixed JSON query content, Accept-Query, and the browser-generated CORS preflight.

Expanded the Glossary and added Reference entries for Content-Type, Cookie, and Access-Control-Allow-Origin. Published bounded request, delay, response-field, and same-site cookie Lab lessons. Clarified the permanent-free promise, organization-level source review, and fixed dark accessibility contract.

Launched the reviewed HTTP learning corpus, bounded Lab, static search, topic discovery, and public editorial policies.
